Sterile Processing Department
The role of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) is to decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize and distribute all of the reusable patient supplies, instruments, and equipment for the Health Centre in order to ensure high standards of infection prevention and control within the health care facility. Distribution of medical/surgical supplies and other items are controlled by SPD centrally in order to maintain the flow of sterile supplies efficiently and effectively throughout the Health Centre.
