A proud participant in the WSIB Safety Groups Program since 2003
The WSIB Safety Groups Program is a prevention initiative aimed at reducing/eliminating accidents, injuries and illnesses from Ontario workplaces through the promotion of workplace health and safety. In order to achieve this, each Safety Group Participant must identify its strengths and weaknesses in its health and safety program through a workplace assessment. In each year of participation in the Safety Groups Program, each firm is required to complete at least five elements from the Achievement List. From there, using the 5 steps of Managing Health and Safety, one must develop policies and procedures, and implement them by following the 5 steps to Managing Health & Safety.
» The Five Steps to Managing Health & Safety are:
- Set standards
- Communicate
- Train
- Evaluate
- Acknowledge success & make improvements
The WSIB Safety Groups Program provides incentives for workplaces to develop sustainable health and safety progams, rewards demonstrated achievements in health and safety and supports mentoring and networking within the group to achieve success.
