The goal of the Food Services department is to provide high quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals for patients, residents, staff, visitors, and outreach programs in a safe and sanitary environment, in accordance with the overall mission and vision of the Blind River District Health Centre.
The main kitchen is open 365 days a year from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We offer delicious, home-cooked meals to our acute care patients, Golden Birches residents, Meals on Wheels clients, and cafeteria customers. We proudly prepare and serve almost 80,000 meals annually. Vending machines, including refrigerated vending, are available outside of the cafeteria and in the Emergency department for your convenience.
Our cafeteria is open Monday to Friday from 7:15 a.m-8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. We offer a variety of snacks, salads, beverages, sandwiches, and pastries, as well as hot entrees over the lunch hour.

Golden Birches Terrace
Golden Birches long-term care residents may choose between two meal choices at every meal. The Food Services department caters to special theme days throughout the year, as well as an annual family Christmas party. Families are welcome to come and enjoy a meal with residents. Meal tickets are available at switchboard. We are dedicated to achieving the highest quality of food services for all of our residents of Golden Birches!
