The NSHN Blind River site Acute care is a 16 bed unit with 24/7 service intended to provide total care to patients admitted to the hospital.  We have both private and semi-private rooms. Our team is a combination of full and part time RPN’s, RN’s, and on site physicians who are trained in the field of medicine in order to provide a full range of treatment and care. Updated equipment and techniques allow our nurses and physicians to provide the best treatment possible helping you to recover. Our dedication has resulted in a patient satisfaction rate of 99%!

In order to increase your comfort during your stay we offer access to telephones, televisions and wireless internet. There is no cost for a telephone for local calls.  If a patient on Acute Care would like to make a long distance call, a calling card is needed. Television rentals can be made at the admitting desk and internet is free of charge.

Visitors are permitted to visit between the hours of 11:00 am and 8:00 pm where they can also enjoy our sitting room with books, a television and a quiet room for families to gather. We ask that there are no more than two visitors at a time per patient. If you are visiting someone in Acute Care please refrain from bringing the following items:

  • Large sums of money

  • Jewelry or items of sentimental value

  • Non-prescription drugs or alcohol

  • Balloon or Latex products

Although, we do encourage you to bring the following approved items:

Essential care givers

An Essential Care Giver is not a casual visitor, but rather someone who is chosen by the patient or their Substitute Decision Maker. The Essential Caregiver comes to the hospital to assist with the daily changing care of the resident. The Essential Caregiver may be allowed access to the hospital in periods of heightened restriction, when casual visitors may be prohibited. Click to learn more about our Caregiver ID Program.
